Species: | Braconid Mimic Longhorn (Proagapete carissima)This Photo: | 🔍S1, profile🔎 | Other name: | Braconoid Wasp Mimic Longicorn Beetle | Thank you Samuel Westbrook (SamWesty) for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere 1st Live Photo on-line: ~20mm long body, with the antenna an additional ~20mm. We asked Samuel if there was a way to separate the genders. He replied "The original description was based on only one specimen and does not mention the difference between sexes. Slipinski and Escalona 2016 say that sexual dimorphism is not apparent in the genus, so I'd say there is no reliable way to determine sex for this genus" Similar Species: Red Braconid Wasp (Braconidae sp ES01)
