EXTRA - Photo Specific Information: This specimen was found floating in a water bowl. It's possible it's introduced, but until we can get a species level id we can't be sure. General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere Many thanks to Ken Walker at Bowerbird who contact Dr Gullan (Australia's expert in scale insect group) on our behalf. She said "Male scale insects are hard to ID, but if it has 4 simple eyes, it's probably a male mealybug (or perhaps an eriococcid). It's not really possible to go further."
