Thank you Alan Dandie (Alan_Dandie) for confirming the id of this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA), the Flinders Ranges, the Riverland and elsewhere A plain looking, woody, large bush. But after it has flowered, it is covered in red fruit (with wings). Similar shape to Zygophyllum fruit, but very red. The red jewel bugs hide well in the bush at this time of year. Leaves are reasonably small, long and thin. We have masses of these; such that after fruiting is over the ground is covered in a carpet of fallen fruit. The fruit is not your typical fleshy variety; rather thin leaf like material with a seed in the middle of the wings. More a seed pod with wings than fruit. | |||||
