Species: | Large Big-headed Ant (Pheidole antipodum)This Photo: | 🔍King, Head🔎 | Thank you Nigel Main for identifying this species for us General Species Information: Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere ~13.5mm long. We saw these occasionally flying around us one day. We thought they were beetles. Marie caught this one in her hands and we realised it was an ant. Nigel said it's the largest species of Pheidole in Australia.
