Found on Ellura (in the Murray Mallee, SA) and elsewhere
1st Live Photo on-line:
After Liz suggested it was a Mydas fly, possibly Militinus sp we hunted thru CSIRO images and found it looked closest to Miltinus cardinalis.
Tony said "The keys agree with your tentative ID of Miltinus cardinalis"
